Experience a Fun and Educational STEM Field Trip

Fun Slides Carpet Skatepark offers an engaging STEM field trip for students in grades 2-6. We use the exciting world of ultraviolet (UV) light to teach students about its effects on various materials.

What Your Students Will Learn

Students will discover how UV light makes certain substances, like the paint on our walls, appear to glow. This phenomenon, known as fluorescence, happens when materials absorb invisible UV light and re-emit it as visible light. The brighter the neon color, the better it glows!

Hands-On Activities

Your class will participate in several hands-on group activities designed to teach the science behind UV light. In one popular activity, students get a coloring sheet of our mascot, Slippy. Their challenge is to make Slippy glow as brightly as possible using different tools like crayons, markers, and highlighters.

Students will need to use their observation skills to figure out which tools contain the most fluorescent properties. Once they’ve finished, we’ll turn off the main lights and turn on the UV lights to reveal which colors glow the brightest!

This unique field trip provides a fun, interactive way for students to learn about a fascinating scientific concept.
