CALLING ALL TEACHERS!
Are you looking for a new kind of Field Trip that will produce lasting results?
Students learn about friction and motion through hands on experiments!
Fun Slides Carpet Skatepark is happy to introduce an exciting new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) field trip opportunity in the Pittsburgh area for grades 2-6.
Highlighting the science behind our patented Fun Slides Carpet Skates and EZ Moves Furniture Slides technology, we have pioneered a brand new way to make physics fun and make key scientific concepts accessible to elementary students. Come join our host, Professor Slyde, as he demonstrates and assists students to conduct fun activities and experiments that ramps scientific discovery to a whole new plane! After the lesson, students can put what they learned to the test and try out carpet skating for themselves.
Topics Covered Include:
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion
Friction · Acceleration · Balanced and Unbalanced Forces · And Lots of Science Fun!

Meet Our New STEM Curriculum Advisor/Writer
Kris Noel Dahl is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She also holds appointments in Materials Science, Computational Biology, Molecular Biophysics, Ethics and Policy and Biomedical Engineering. Her group is interested in structure and mechanics of materials inside cells including the nucleus and cytoskeleton. By studying these structures, it is possible to provide insight into cell function and adaptation including stem cell differentiation, cancer metastesis and interactions of cells with nanomaterials. Dahl received her BS degree from Carnegie Mellon in 1998, and Ph. D. degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Pennsylvania in 2004. She performed her postdoctoral fellowship in Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins University before joining Carnegie Mellon in 2007. She is a recipient of a Whitaker Fellowship and NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship for her training. She received an NSF CAREER award as well as a Young Investigator Award from the World Congress of Biomechanics. She has pubished more than 50 peer reviewed papers and 10 review papers and book chapters.
Fun Slides is a great group activity and a good way to get kids up and moving. We offer discounts for groups of 15 or more with advanced reservations.
Private Groups, Parties, and Field Trips
We also open Monday-Friday (days and evenings) for private groups, parties, and field trips by reservation. Call us to schedule your next group event! 412-364-9400
Sensory Friendly and Groups with Disabilities
Carpet Skating is great for both children and adults with disabilities and rehabilitation needs. They have been used as tools by Special Needs Teachers, Pediatric Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Adaptive Physical Education Teachers. Carpet Skates have benefited people with the following disabilities: Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, and people re-learning how to walk or work on stability.
