Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families ask before their first visit — answered.

General / About Fun Slides

What is carpet skating?

Carpet skating uses special plastic skates that strap over your shoes. Guests glide across carpet-covered ramps, rails, and half-pipes. It’s easier to learn than roller skating or ice skating — most first-timers are comfortable within a few minutes.

What ages is Fun Slides best for?

Fun Slides is most popular for kids ages 4–13, but all ages are welcome. With multiple activity zones — carpet skating, dodgeball, ninja course, bounce houses, arcade, and more — guests of different ages stay engaged throughout the visit.

Do kids need skating experience?

No. All first-time skaters are assigned a skate instructor until they’re ready to go on their own. No experience needed before you arrive.

Is Fun Slides good for rainy days?

Yes. Fun Slides is fully indoors. Weather never affects the visit. It’s a consistent option for families looking for indoor activities in Pittsburgh when the weather isn’t cooperating.

Do I need a reservation for public skate?

No. Public skate is walk-in. Just show up during open hours. Reservations are only required for birthday parties and groups.

Can adults skate too?

Yes. Adults are welcome to skate and participate in activities. A paid admission pass and completed waiver are required.

What’s included with admission?

Is there a parent admission?

Spectating parents enter free — no ticket needed, but a waiver is required. Parents who want to skate or participate in activities need a paid admission pass ($12.00) and a waiver.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes. The monthly membership is $35/month and includes unlimited all-day access. No commitment period required.

Visit Prep & Safety

What should kids wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows movement is recommended. Closed toe shoes are required — see below. Don’t forget socks!

What shoes are required?

Closed toe shoes are required for all skaters. Fun Slides skates strap over your shoes and fit up to size 13 mens. Sandals, open toe shoes, and flip flops are not permitted on the skatepark floor.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. All guests must complete a waiver before entering the park. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian signature. You can sign online in advance to save time at check-in: https://funslidespgh.pcsparty.com/sign

Do parents need to stay during a public skate visit?

Yes. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian while at the park.

Is Fun Slides safe for beginners?

Yes. Carpet skating is designed to be beginner-friendly. Staff are present throughout the park, and all first-time skaters are assigned an instructor until they’re comfortable on their own.

Are there activities for younger kids (ages 4 and under)?

Yes. The Butt Slide N’ Bounce pass ($12.00) is designed for ages 4 and under and includes access to the butt slides and bounce houses. Younger kids also enjoy the beginner-friendly skating areas.

Birthday Parties

What party packages do you offer?

Fun Slides offers three birthday party packages: the Deluxe Party (starting at $319), the Ultimate Glow-Up Party (starting at $399), and the Big Private Party (starting at $679). See full details on the Birthday Parties page.

What’s included in every birthday party?

Every package includes a dedicated party host, skates helmets, full access to the skatepark and all Xtra Activities, private party room time, and birthday gifts for the birthday child — a blacklight T-shirt and free admission for a future visit.

How long are birthday parties?

Most birthday parties run about two hours and include skating and activity time, celebration time in the party room for food and cake, and a final skate session after the celebration.

How many guests are included?

The Deluxe Party includes 10 guests. The Ultimate Glow-Up Party includes 12 guests. The Big Private Party includes 30 guests. Additional guests can be added to any package up to room or facility capacity.

Can I add more guests?

Yes. Additional guests can be added for an additional fee at booking.

Can I bring my own cake?

Yes. You’re welcome to bring your own birthday cake or cupcakes. Fun Slides provides plates, forks, and napkins.

Can I bring decorations?

Personal decorations, plates, and cups are welcome. Silly string, confetti, pinatas, and wall or ceiling decorations are not permitted. If you’re unsure whether something is allowed, call (412) 364-9400 before your party.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

The deposit is non-refundable. With at least 14 days notice, the deposit can be applied to any available date within 2 months or credited toward public skate sessions. For public skate session parties, less than 14 days notice results in a change fee, and 7 days or less forfeits the full deposit unless the spot can be rebooked. For private parties and groups, less than 14 days notice forfeits the full deposit unless the spot can be rebooked.

How far in advance should I book?

Weekend dates fill quickly, especially during school breaks and winter months. Booking several weeks in advance is recommended to secure your preferred date.

Do parties include a dedicated host?

Yes. Every party package includes a dedicated party host who manages the event from arrival to cleanup — greeting guests, keeping the schedule, serving food, helping with cake, and cleaning up when it’s done.

What’s the difference between the Deluxe Party and the Ultimate Glow-Up Party?

Both include a dedicated host, skate and helmet rentals, beverages for each child, and birthday gifts for the birthday child. The key differences: the Ultimate Glow-Up includes 12 guests (vs. 10 for Deluxe), 2 large pizzas (vs. 1), and glow party favors and a drawstring bag for all guests. The Deluxe Party has those items available as optional add-ons.

What is the Big Private Party?

The Big Private Party includes exclusive private use of the entire Fun Slides facility — no shared space with the public. It starts at $679, includes 30 guests, and comes with a dedicated party host, skate and helmet rentals, beverages for each child, and blacklight T-shirts and free future visits for all guests. Pizza, glow favors, and drawstring bags are available as add-ons.
